As we move into spring and getting dressed in the warmer weather, I find that spending a little time to inventory and update my core wardrobe basics makes getting dressed so much easier. T-shirts aren’t the most exciting part of a wardrobe to buy, but in my closet, they’re an essential for most of my warm-weather outfits.
The internet has put a lot of time into finding the “perfect” t-shirt, and companies have put a LOT of marketing into convincing you theirs is the best. There’s a t-shirt out there for every price point. Is it possible that a $50+ t-shirt is amazing? Definitely! Am I, personally, going to find out if a t-shirt that expensive is worth the $$$? Probably not! Maybe it’s because it’s more exciting to buy dresses, cute tops, and shoes, or maybe it’s because I have a puppy and two kids jumping on me every day, but I really don’t like to spend a ton on t-shirts.
Enter this v-neck tee from Target. Friends, it’s $8 – and right now it’s on sale for $6. Every season I add a couple of colors to my t-shirt drawer, and this year I’ve added the gray (pictured) and light blue. I find my regular size (small) more traditionally fitted, but can size up to a medium for a slightly relaxed look, or large (pictured) for an oversized look.
My go-to for years was the Madewell Whisper Cotton V-Neck, and honestly, it’s still a great shirt! Sometimes, if I fall in love with a certain color (ahem, the “faded palm” shade) and there’s a sale, I’ll spring for these. At under $20, they’re still a fairly affordable option. But I still find myself cringing a little if one of my kids pulls on it.
The affordability makes the Target version feel a little less precious for everyday mom wear, and I’ve found these tees to be really good quality. They reshape nicely after washing and don’t develop holes as easily as my other similarly thin tees (I prefer to air dry after washing for best results).
If you’ve been looking for a solid t-shirt option for everyday, I hope this was helpful!
